The Clinton School for Writers and Artist just opened its door on St Michaels Academy’s site, 33rd Street between 9th and Dyer Avenues. Yesterday, Community Board 4 approved the closure of the street, four times a week at lunch time. Although this seems hardly a victory, the street has many commercial tenants, active loading docks and two parkings lots and even an entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. This compromise achieves a delicate balance of all interests. We hope DOT will approve the play street.
