New Plaza dubbed “The Canoe”, is taking shape in Hell’s Kitchen

As long as we can remember, NYPD and other vehicles perpendicularly parked on a block length of 36th Street’s north sidewalk, between 9th and Dyer Avenues forcing all pedestrians to walk on the roadway. Finally! 42nd Street and 9th Avenue safer for pedestrians

After 7 years of dogged persistence on the part of our members, the south crossing at 42nd Street and 9th Avenue  is now much safer.

Pedestrian Death: 41st Street still not fixed

June 5th marked the 4-month anniversary of the death of our neighbor, Ms. Shu Ying Liu, at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and W. 41st Street. She was hit by one of the many large trucks making the (west) right turn from Ninth Avenue onto W. 41st Street.

DOT describes many improvements in Hell’s Kitchen

DOT study : Terrific but please more safety features

In the coming years our streets should be transformed for the better: the transitway on 34th Street will dedicate space for bus riders and bike lanes on 8th and 9th Avenues will dedicate space for bicyclists.
