HK Greening – 48 more trees planted

The Department of Parks completed a group planting of 30 more trees on 35th and 36th Streets as well as a few on 40th Street. This is the result the city’s commitment to green Hell’s Kitchen South that Council Speaker Quinn fought for during the Hudson Yards rezoning.

In addition , the Port Authority has finally replaced the 18 mature trees that had been removed three years ago to allow for the installation of the trusses on 40th Street.  As part of this effort three new trees were planted on 9th Avenue on the sidewalk.

A much welcome addition to these inhospitable sidewalks ….
