We Desperately Need Protected Intersections

NYPD Responds to Criticism after the Death of Two Cyclists

Chief Chan as well as his direct reports and the head of the Collision Investigation unit were on hand to discuss the various issues raised after the death of two cyclist in CB4 in June.

One block of 8th Avenue will soon be safer for pedestrians and cyclists

 

In May 2017 the DOT plans to redesign the awful block of 8th Avenue between 42nd and 43rd streets.
the pedestrian area increased by 60%  by removing  the  barricade.The adjacent bike lane will be by delineated by large blocks on the pedestrian side and flexible bollards on the vehicular side to prevent obstructions.

Traffic fatalities are skyrocketing: what will the DOT do?

In December 2016, our neighborhood experienced two more fatalities, bringing the 2016 toll to  6 , or three times as many as in 2013.  A tourist was killed crossing W39th Street at 10th Avenue  and a bicyclist was killed while crossing 55th Street at 12th Avenue

Hudson River Park greenway: Near Death Experiences

in 2006 Carl Nacht was killed  by a vehicle in the Hudson River Park, on the greenway. On 2016 another person was killed on the greenway at Chambers street.
