The Incredible 17 seconds Life Preserving Interval (LPI)

Three years ago , CHEKPEDS members Eric Muise gathered a petition to obtain safety for pedestrians in crossing 34th Street at Dyer Avenue , an exit to the Lincoln Tunnel. Martin Treat explains how it helps pedestrian safety. Since then DOT has installed six more  LPIs in Hell’s Kitchen . We have come a long way!  But many more intersections to go.
