Who knew that the NYPD has systematically increased the amount of parking summonses in recent months ? Our board member, Jehiah Czebotar, did a deep dive in NYPD and other statistics. Here are his findings:
Data shows that in 2025 NYPD has steadily improved its responses to reports of illegal parking and is now more frequently issuing parking tickets, even as the total number of reports increase.
Civilians filed 51,073 reports with 311 for illegal parking in Oct 2025, an increase of 18.9% from 42,957 a year prior. Citywide, NYPD resolved 26.8% of those Illegal Parking reports as “summons issued” in Oct 2025, up from 19.9% in Oct 2024 and 16.5% in Oct 2023.
The largest improvement has come in Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn which have increased the percentage of “summons issued” resolutions by +10.5%, +9.6% and +7.6% respectively compared with Oct 2024. Click Here see the graph in action.
The City overall is still doing an abysmal job of addressing 311 complaints. 64% of citizens are dissatisfied with the response they got from the agencies.
Taxi and limousine commission and Finance are the two exceptions with a B grade, but NYPD, DOT and DEP all garnered F grades. Click Here for the detailed graphs
