Walkmapper, the powerful app for pedestrians is now available for download.

The Walkmapper mobile app makes it easy for pedestrians to report problems or request new street features on the go, while increasing their chances to get a resolution. The app streamlines and automates the complex process residents and activists must go through to get any issue resolved

In addition to pedestrians, the app is useful to bus riders, cyclists , persons with disabilities. It focuses on street safety and reporting of open dining encroachments amongst others.

Manhattan Community Board 4’s Transportation committee recently used it to report 270 pedestrian ramps that are not compliant. The feedback from users has been very positive.
A tutorial is available in the Help section

Walkmapper allows the user to report 71 street conditions that a pedestrian may encounter on the sidewalk, at the curb or in the crossing. Many of them cannot be reported today on 311, and even fewer from a mobile phone. Visual symbols and pictures makes the tool accessible to a diverse population.

By giving the option to capture multiple complaints and then submit them later at the end of the day, Walkmapper facilitates street audits.

Walkmapper empowers users to escalate problems to elected officials, social media and others. Complaints can be easily resent, to ensure that City agencies will respond, thus increasing the chances to get a resolution.

Walkmapper on the web is an analysis tool: it provides aging of complaints, shows surrounding 311 or Walkmapper complaints on a map, and allows downloads of complaints, further assisting in the Street audits.
