
With a mayor who gets it and the new Commissioner of DOT who has a deep experience in pedestrian and bike projects, ( we have worked with him on the super sidewalk of 8th Avenue ) we are poised for a better year in transportation, where the infrastructure is not dependent on the whims of political lackeys.
The other exciting news is the focus on quality and the goal of striving for the best at DOT. Thees institutional changes may set the stage for a sustained productivity for years to come.
But we must remain vigilant that sufficient attention and funds are dedicated to the little guy, the pedestrians who are always overlooked.
