We’d love to hear from you on priorities you think we ought to focus on in 2012, please write them in the comment section below. We will adjust accordingly.

As it is 2012 promised to be very busy:

Pedestrian: Unfortunately the news related to pedestrian injuries are not good: in the united states they have increased by 11,000 or 19% between 2009 and 2010 while the fatalities have increased by 4.2%. our priorities will be obtaining more split phase signals on 8th and 9th Avenues, supporting Vision Zero ( zero traffic Deaths) and more safe zones in our neighborhood, as well as getting the Canoe at 36th street built and greened and moving along the phone booth of the future project.

Bus – Transit: Relocating Megabus to an acceptable location, ensuring the closing of Northbound Dyer Avenue as part of the 34th Street Transit-way, advocating for long distance and charter bus regulation in Albany, publishing parking and routes map for charter buses.

Traffic Calming : getting the DOT’s Hell’s Kitchen study recommendations implemented, finding a solution to improve safety at 45th Street and 9th Avenue.

Biking : getting bike share and bike lanes installed with appropriate amount of pedestrian safety features, installing a few bike corrals, developing a program of business biking enforcement and education

Enforcement: Supporting Speed Camera law, continuing efforts to increase NYPD’s enforcement of traffic laws.
