There is no better way to influence the outcomes on your block and your neighborhood than by joining the Community Board.  By giving only three evenings a month you can play a pivotal role in all consultations between City agencies and the Community: zoning, bike lane, sidewalk cafes, phone booths, bar licenses, street fairs, parking , traffic safety measures, truck routes, landmarks, budget priorities. And you still have time to grab that drink with friends after the meetings! The enrollment is open for another two weeks . See the details here.

“Borough President Scott Stringer’s office is currently accepting applications to serve on the local Community Board (CB). Serving on a CB is a great opportunity to shape your neighborhood, improve service delivery, and be at the forefront of community based planning. To learn more about CBs and to download an application, you can visit http://www.mbpo.org/free_details.asp?id=64. Please also join the BP’s office at an upcoming information session held on Thursday, January 6th, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.1 Centre Street, 19th floor and another on Tuesday, January 11th from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Grand Street Settlement, 80 Pitt Street, Room 109.”

New applications are due by January 14th, 2010. Prior to applying, I strongly encourage you to attend an information session to learn more about CBs and the application process.
