Once again, the carter and bus industries are lobbying aggressively to obliterate our clean air laws. Intro 561-A threatens to create giant loopholes in the law by allowing diesel engines to idle and letting the current and future summonses to be dismissed based on administrative time elapsed.

The current law enforced by citizens has been extremely effective in our neighborhood which has the third worst air quality in the city. Please tell the council to reject Intro 561- A.

Dear Elected officials

 We oppose Intro 561- A, as it is clear that it will undermine the current law and enforcement of the Clean Air provisions.

The Diesel clause is a giant loophole , as is the elimination of hundreds of thousands of current  and future fines. Further, there is no incentives for the perpetrators to invest in new technology

We are appalled by the numerous ways in which the legislation will degrade our air quality and let the polluters off the hook. This is a massive give away to an industry that repeatedly failed to follow the law and rein in its own workers. It would be a giant step backward in the clean air fight just when the US government makes every effort to dismantle s Clean Air and Health protections.

We also object to reducing the rewards to those citizens who dedicate so much time to address this issue in the streets. In our district, these individuals have had a major positive impact on the quality of the air. They should be properly compensated. We wish many more citizens could participate in the program.
