Co Hosted by New York State Assembly Member Dick Gottfried and State Senator Tom Duane
119 Ninth Ave. between 17th and 18th Streets
New York State is facing its most serious budget crisis since the Depression of the 1930s – a deficit of over $12.5 billion – mostly because state tax revenue is falling. And the MTA has a $1.2 billion budget gap. What does it mean for health care, education and other important programs? Why is it happening? Should we cut programs? Should we roll back tax cuts on high-income taxpayers? or should we collect increased summonses from those citizens and businesses who do not heed the law and costs millions to the state and the city in enforcement, legal fees, health and quality of life.
