The U.S. Department of Transportation  National Roadway Safety Strategy (NRSS)  outlines the Department’s comprehensive approach to significantly reducing serious injuries and deaths on our Nation’s highways, roads, and streets. This is the first step in working toward an ambitious long-term goal of reaching zero roadway fatalities. 

USDOT just published a comprehensive visualization of the hot spots for traffic crashes in America in absolute numbers and in #crashes related to population; Arizona is one of the worst state in this category. For those who say, “Vision Zero is not realistic”, the map of all the counties with zero traffic fatalities in the last 5 years is a reminder that it is indeed achievable – even in car centric America – , and some municipalities know how to get there.
